isssue with pump

I just installed debian woody and upgraded to kernel 2.6.7

when I tried to setup my ethernet card I used the command

pump -i eth0

but there is a message "e100: eth0: e100_wathchdog: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex"
and then "operation failed"

what is wrong with it?
tks.
