Is there a way to send files to a friend, similar to MSN send file protocol?

MSN messaging is worldwide popular. One of its features is file transferring. It would be very comfortable for sharing files, but it is slow and fails very often. To make things worse, for some reason, linux clients tend to fail far more often than the official Microsoft clients. I am sick and tired of trying to send things that never reach.

Does any of you know how can I replace this feature? Considering that many of my friends use WINDOWS, I'd need a multi-plattaform software/protocol.

well, here we go...

I dont know if i got the question right but check this out:

You can try sending the files with gaim (conectiong using msn protocol), or use gmail..if the file is too big chop it...or use megaupload or w/e ;)

note. gaim (and kopete) also support other protocols/messaging... like gtalk, yahoo, aol..etc depending on the program ;)...
