sendmail is generally the hardest of the common MTA's. to keep your hair, try postfix, exim or qmail. your choice of distro won't affect how easy or hard an individual app is.

Sendmail is widely used, but difficult to work with. If you want powerful but easier to setup, look at postfix. If you want simple and easy to setup, maybe exim is for you.

Thank you Chris.. I need to forward the incoming mail to a program that will process it. Then I need to send it back to the sender. I dont know if postfix is able to do that.. If it is, please let me know.. Thank you

if sendmail can do it, those three will be able to as well... doesn't sound like the job of an MTA at all to me though...
