hrmm

you are referring to 2 seperate machines sharing your broadband connection i assume? well all you need is a router for that. there really isnt much software involved. as long as DHCP is running on both machines you generally just plug both machines in the router, your broadband modem into the WAN connection and bam..theres internet on both machines.

Well but I don`t have a router , i have a crossover cable connecting my PC with windows xp to my father pc with win xp too. Now I`m migrating to linux....just my pc , is it possible this way ?????????

You can use linux as a router/gateway try using a search engine theres plenty of information and you'll find your answers much faster than on a forum

yeah i didnt think about setting up your linux box as a gateway. still though if youve got $50 a router will be quick and painless. then once its setup you can hack away at the linux system w/out fear of dropping the connection to your dads computer.

which distro are you using?

Mandrake has utils to set this up, SuSE has a feature on the firewall setting as i recall , also take a look on www.tldp.org they have a section on this its known as NAT (Network Address Translation ) and IP MASQUERADING.
