Is it possible to send a message to a windows computer using samba?

Is it possible to send a message using samba to a windows computer, i have seen things about this while searching on google but i could not find anything that tell me how to do it.

If the messenger service is running on the target windows machine you can send a popup message with smbclient -M <machine>
