Is configuring DNS in RHEL AS3 is good or not?

Friends,

OS: RHEL AS 3.0
DB: 9iR2

Currently our RHEL AS 3.0 is not configured with DNS.
I tried to get the ipaddress of the user using below query but its showing unknown host.

select utl_inaddr.get_host_address(terminal) ipaddr
from v$session

so, i have decided to configure the DNS in RHEL AS 3.0
but i want to know is there any draw back in setting up the DNS.

currently we dont have the DNS configuration.

what do you mean by "setting up" the dns? as a client or as a server? sounds like you just want client entires, in which case just add them to /etc/resolv.conf
