Question ipmasq debian broken ?

Is anyone else running Debian 'Unstable' having problems with the ipmasq package right now?

I use the ipmasq package to set up masquerading on my linux gateway for my local network. When I updated my system with apt earlier today I lost the ability to initiate outbound connections from other computers behind the gateway.

I edited the files:

in /etc/ipmasq/rules/ZZZdenyandlog.def
comment out the DENY and LOG iptables rules

in /etc/ipmasq/rules/A03flush.def
change default policies from DROP to ACCEPT in the filter table

and saved them with *.rul extensions instead (so they survive new updates)

Maybe someone is struggeling with the same problems right now, or has a better solution? (I probably opened up my system to lots of vulnerabilities)

Hmm I am not sure if the ipmasq package has some additional functionality that you need, but isn't it easier to just add this iptables rule:

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

to enable masqerading?

The package was updated again today and my fix is no longer needed

About your suggestion: Yeah it's easier but it's almost like cheating isn't it
