IP Layer bitrate

Hello All,

I am trying to find out how I can estimate the IP Layer bitrate I would get from an ethernet link? Say at 100 Mbits/s or 200 Mbits/s (powerline)?

Is there a formula that I could use to calculate that?

Thanks,

atwin

Actual performance varies greatly from moment to moment on any network. It not only depends on your hardware's stated specifications but also on how well your hardware interacts with other hardware. In addition, the performance experienced by any specific node on the network depends on the network saturation from other clients using the same network.

Thanks for the comment stree_junkie. Its very enlightening. I just need a way to approximate it. I am running some experiments and just wanted an idea of how I could estimate the bitrate at the IP layer.
