Ip forwarding or Squid server?
I running a home LAN, one linux PC and a Win PC, the first one acts as gateway using ip forwarding. It runs pretty fast, at least much more faster than when I had a win gateway. Should I stick with this or is squid a better option for me?? Which one has a better performance??

Up! Any ideas, anyone?? |
Regular IP forwarding is probably as fast as you can get. If you want to use the other functions that squid provides, then use squid.

i have used both
what i feel is that Squid is good for large organizations where u have some good bandwidth it has some overheads with it also, like checking the cache etc i used to get more misses than hits so i dropped squid and shifted to ip forwarding regards |
