IP forwarding

Hi All,

This is probably a very easy thing to setup but I am having problems. Anyway, here goes.

For the purpose of this post I will use A.B.C.X as the network address.

I have the IP address range A.B.C.161 through A.B.C.190.
The routers IP address is A.B.C.161.
The firewall has two IP addresses A.B.C.162 connected to the router and A.B.C.163 connected to the hub.
The other computers on the network are connected to the hub and use A.B.C.163 as the default gateway.

Is it possible to configure the firewall to forward all the traffic for the other computers on the network so that every computer can be accessed via the Internet?

For example:

Data for A.B.C.175 from the Internet need to pass through the router to the firewall and then on to the computer with that IP address.

Thank for your help.

Uhm, yes. So long as A.B.C.X is a public address with a route to it from the internet then its as simple as making sure that packet forwarding is enabled on your firewall using
Code:
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
at boot time. If A.B.C.X isn't a public address that you'd need to use port forwarding on your public interface to just forward specific ports to specific hosts, with IP Masquerading/NAT for outgoing traffic.

HTH

Yes, A.B.C.X is a public address.

So with packet forwarding enabled on the firewall it will forward all traffic destined for the Internet and also forward any traffic from the Internet destined for a computer on the network.

Thanks for your help. I will give it another try.
