Question IP Config: No network device available

Hello Every One,
I am using IXP425 development board ported with Redboot 2.02 and Montavista 2.4.20 mvl31-ixdp4xx as kernel.
I am trying to load file system to board via NFS but kernel is not detecting the ethernet i thing. Ihave open the portmap and nfsd as suggested. Follwing is the bootscript. If anybody has crack for this problem please specify.

did you compile the network driver into the kernel.
if yes then things should work
if not then you must either
a) compile the network module in-kernel
OR
a) try to use initramfs (cpio-gz)
use modules in it and write scripts
which configure the ip and mount the root
and does a pivot_root
