Internet too slow
 

Hello people,

I just installed Mandrake 10.0 Official as my first Linux distro, using kernel 2.6. Everything seemed just fine during the installation, but when I logged in, I noticed that the internet surfing speed was sooo low.....

I am running the OS on an AMD Athlon XP 2200+, dual-booting it with Windows 2000 Pro, which still has a good connection speed to the net.
I am inside a LAN, and I have already checked my IP, DNS, etc. and they are the same of Windows. My Network card is VIA VT6105Rhine III 100 Mbps.

Since I am new to Linux, if you could explain what is happening and suggest a simple way out, I would be very thankful!
