Thumbs up Internet Connection Sharing (WIndowsXp & Fedora 9). MOzilla Works OFFLINE

Hello Friends

I have Windows XP Prof with 2 two NICs one is connected to Internet through DSL, automatically get ip from ISP, It is also set for Internet Connection Shared Option.

Second one is connected to Fedora 9.0 with 192.168.0.1

MY fedora computer has the following settings

TCP/IP 192.168.0.254
DNS 192.168.2.1 (Adress of DSL modem)
DNS 192.168.2.1 (DSL modem)
Gateway 192.168.0.1 (address of 2nd Nic on WindowsXP machine connected to fedora M/c)

my internet works on both computers i.e XP & Fedora.

Now i have two Problems

1. my Mozilla firefox started always works Offline. I have always make it work through uncheck the option in File->work offline.

2. The "Network Connection" icon (Located on top right side of task bar) in fedora core, always appeared with "redcross" on it. Means it shows something wrong with networking. Actaully my internet works fine.I can ping yahoo.com, google.com, my gateway, my windows M/c

Please help to sort out

thanks

I *think* these are both because you're not directly connected to the net. I have no idea how to fix them, but if everythings working, whats the problem?

My windowsXP computer is directly connected to Internet through DSL.

This (Fedora 9.0 ) is connected via WindowsXP (2 NICS).

And Soldier I am studying at home.. I want to know why this problem is?.. U know "Soldiers Never tired" LOL

yes, i meant that you're not directly connected to the net on the feodra machine, where the firefox is that you're talking about, i assume?
who knows how windows ics works? this isnt a windows forum... but in any case whatevers going on must be pretty mad, since clicking offline should specifically mean "don't touch the network", windows machines or otherwise - no idea....

The default NetworkManager in Fedora 9 has a serious bug.
You can stop the service of NetworkManager and start the service of network.

1. su root

2. edit '/etc/sysconfig/network'
add new line
NETWORKWAIT=1

or

$sudo su -c 'echo NETWORKWAIT=1 >> /etc/sysconfig/network'

3.$sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop
Stopping NetworkManager daemon: [ OK ]

4.$sudo /sbin/chkconfig --level 35 NetworkManager off

5.$sudo system-config-network

6.if u use static ip, add DNS

7.active eth0,then File/Save and quit.

8.$sudo /etc/init.d/network start
Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth0: [ OK ]

9.$sudo /sbin/chkconfig --level 35 network on
