internet connection on pppoe


my isp is providing internet connection over ppp0e

in windows i installed ppp0e client and it detected my isp

in linux (redhat 8) i am not able to set my connection.
i have installed rp-pppoe client and when i launch ... it dies out and says TIMED out.

Did you run pppoe-setup and tell it what settings to use (username, password, etc.)?

i ran the set up and gave all the information it asked for.

it is just giving time out message ...is thre any way to find out actual reason for time out

You can run it in debug mode with the -d switch or by uncommenting the debug line in /etc/ppp/options. This will cause it to log via syslog so you can check the output in /var/log/messages (or /var/log/syslog - I haven't checked this for a while).
