hi,

just installed Fedora Core 2 and am trying to connect it up to the internet.

I have a netgear rp114 router and i connect it up to that and manually configure the ip settings (not using dhcp). The NIC is build into the motherboard (asrock k7s41gx)

ip address of 192.168.0.5
subnet 255.255.255.0
primary dns of 192.168.0.1

and rebooted the machine, when it came back I could connect to the internet for about 5 to 10 mins, then it just loses connection, taking the interface up and down doesnt do anything, stays off.

I dont think its my router as my windows machine stays connected fine all the time.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why it dies, or anything I can try?

u an try out this
check ur /var/log/messages
for more info
also u can add
*.* /dev/ty12
to ur /etc/syslog.conf
and restart ur syslog service
and then when u r gettting connected u can see whats is happeninig behind by
ctrl+alt+F12 will show u and
ctrll+alt+F7 will bring u back to gui

also see by "ifconfig"
of u r given some public IP or not
