How many interfaces do you have on your machine?

Can you post the output of ifconfig?

Are you running 2 Ethernet cards on your Linux box or boxes? If so, make sure you have the most current drivers for those cards.

If you have the most current drivers, then it could be a hardware problem.

Hope that helps!

If it's reading as eth2 how many network cards do you have in that machine. They usually fall into order, the first cards(regaurdless of the slot it's in on the motherboard) should be eth0. The secong card should be eth1, third card should be eth2 and so on.with more than one card the slot they are in on the motherboard determines which device it will be. Maybe this will help.
