Internet Browsing Slowness
I have been searching high and low for a solution.
I have used 3 different browsers and 2 different distros of linux, fedora core 4 and currently mandrake 10.
When I am browsing the internet, the time it takes to load pages and find pages is very long, and sometimes take me to click a link multiple times before it loads the new page. I am on a high speed school network and my laptop with windows isntalled loads pages fine. Just when I load a new page, the Resolving host... stays there for what seems like forever. Also, the waiting will also be the messagte that it hangs on.
Pages hang when loading, ones with images and such load the text and then hang, then about 40 seconds later, the images suddenly load. Also, downloading direct links with wget from the terminal is fine. I can download at about 1+MBPS.
Printing the output of the ifconfig shows no errors.
UPDATE: Deactivating and then reactivating my eth0 interface will allowthe connection to run really fast for about 5 seconds then its back to timeouts and slowness.
Could this be a hostname or other network setting?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
