Installing new Ethernet Card in an Existing Linux Box

Opensourcerers,

Please do help me with this matter...

I am using a Red Hat 9 dual boot with Win98, lately I am curious on adding a LAN CARD in Linux Box which has already an existing LAN CARD, so I install CNET PRO 200 LAN CARD (the same with the existing CNET LAN Card that I am using). The problem is I'm having a hard time installing the new one and second is after I remove the second LAN CARD my existing LAN CARD can't ping any computers in the network... I tried to reconfigure but it still the same... please do help me...

Thanx!

redhat ehhh well there is your problem, i seam to blank out when ever i remember redhat recommending windows.

ok ok stick the 2 cards in your computer.
type ip address
does eth0 and eth1 exist.
since u said it is the same, linux should find them both ok.
if not say so as i am going to skip to config files.

the config files are located at
/etc/sysconf/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and (1)
if ifcfg-eth1 does not exist copy ifcfg-eth0 as ifcfg-eth1

open files and check what is in them

make sure they are sane.

good luck, let the tux be with you.
