Unhappy Installing from a SCSI CDROM!!

Hi ,

My apologoies to the SYS-OPs of this forums as iam reposting my old query.

Iam trying to install RedHat 6.1 on my old HP Vectra machine.
It does not have option to boot from a CDROM so i had to create a boot floppy from the CDROM itself.

The machine does boots fine from the floppy fine ....however since i have a SCSI CDROM, the installtion stops there itself as it cannot read/boot from the SCSI cdrom.

Do i need to pass parameters to the installation prompt ?
Iam having a AMD SCSI controller with SCSI ID 5.

Thanks you for the help ( in advance )

With Regards,
Xanthium

Ok since nobody else is helping i'll try... First off you need special stuff to boot off other types of devices (usb, firewire, SCSI). What i mean is it's more complex and the easiest thing to do is do a search on "booting off a scsi cdrom" that should tell you how to boot, then it'll just boot into the installer and bam. The reason i don't know the exact answere is because all scsi cards are different..........

Hi..

Boot with the floppy and see the device name for the scsi cdrom drive.
Reboot the machine and try

linux <devicename>= cdrom

Ex: linux sda=cdrom
