Angry installed wvdial..but prob in installing usb modem


guies...i manged to installed wvdial
but there is problem in installing tata indicom wireless usb modem..
when i typed wvdialconf/etc/wvdial.conf...notjing happened it didnt detected directory
but when i typed wvdialconf,,,following is the output...

Found an USB modem on /dev/ttyACM0.
Modem configuration written to /etc/wvdial.conf.
/etc/wvdial.conf<Warn>: Can't write '/etc/wvdial.conf.tmp2602': Permission denied
/etc/wvdial.conf<Warn>: Can't write '/etc/wvdial.conf' ('/etc/wvdial.conf'): Bad file descriptor
ttyACM0<Info>: Speed 460800; init "ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0"

but after this when i typed gedit/etc/wvdial.conf..
it says bash:no such directory...(something like that)..

can u guide me

First, cut out the "PLSSSSSS REPLYYYYYY" junk. We volunteer our time here, so begging like that is fairly rude.

Second, we can't "guide you", since you don't give an error message. We need more than "something like that", before you can be "guided". If you typed what you posted, ("gedit/etc/wvdial.conf"), it won't work. Needs to be "gedit /etc/wvdial.conf"...a space after gedit. The first command you posted too, didn't have a space, which is probably why it died as well. Your modem was detected, and the wvdial.conf file build was attempted...but you need to be root to run it, which you weren't, that's why you got the "permission denied" error.

Re-run the wvdialconf command as root.

I AGREE i shouldn't begged..but i was not getting reply n i want to use the modem at anyy cost..nyways u r suggesion is heartly welcomed..

i will do that..
