imap login as root
 

Does anybody have an idea why i can't login to IMAP as root although it works with all other users ????

Hello, i have the same problem and i can not send mail to anyone not even to local users how can i send mail by imap to local users and normal mail adressen xxx@xx.nl?????

well it's not up to IMAP to send mail.
I use sendmail for this job !

i tried sendmail but how must i configure sendmail, for all users i can use sendmail to check my mail on my linux redhat 8.0 server but not for root? ive changed the rules for the file but nothing helps?

Well do you really think it is a GOOD idea to connect over an unsecured network with the root user and plaintext passwords? I do not think it is such a good idea. Even if it's locally ...

Mail for root should be forwarded to another user. Use /etc/aliases for that job. As for sending off e-Mail I suggest Postfix ... anything other than sendmail is a good deal ...
