Just upgraded my Samba to the latest 2.2.6 last night and as the subject line reads it was a disaster after install of RedHat RPM and recoping my smb.conf and restarting Samba I noticed my HDD was thrasing to no end looked at sytem through xosview CPU activity up to 100% hard drive activity through the roof, loads up to 4.0 never seen this before thought my hard drive was being eaten alive restarted system to calm it down my /var/log space was completly full it had written to the message log some 185 meg of this error over and over again

ERROR: string overflow by 1 in string_sub(%u, 7)
[2002/10/28 23:12:10, 0] lib/util_str.c:string_sub(1217)

Samba log had same error mesage it was 17 meg large removed and reinstalled the package but same thing happened. Now Im back to Samba 2.5 and everything is normal what went wrong any clues would help has anyone else suffered the same with this realese of Samba
