ifconfig

I just installed redhat 8.0 on a server system and when i try to run ifconfig as root it doesn't come up. I get bash: ifconfig: command not found !!!

I have another system with redhat 8.0 and as root ifconfig comes up just fine.

Am I missing a package??

check your path first. It would be VERY weird if ifconfig wasn't there.

Also you can try "locate" or "find" just to see...

Take a peak into your /sbin to see if it's there. Or, run a locate ifconfig .

If it's there, then how are you getting to be root? Are you logging in or su-ing? If you su, then try su - . The "-" gives you root's path as well as permissions.

If it's not there, it should be in the net-tools RPM. Check if you have that with rpm -qa | grep net-tools .
