ICMP host redirect

i get the following error when i use this command ip ro add via :

border:# ping
PING ( 56(84) bytes of data.
From icmp_seq=1 Redirect Host(New nexthop:
From icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

Don't you need to add it the other way around? :
ip ro add via
