I think i messed somthing up in my /etc/hosts /etc/sysconfig/network

Hello everyone. I was trying to change my machine name from:
x1-6-00-50-8d-d1-c1-97 to somthing small and started messing with my /etc/hosts file and /etc/sysconfig/network file. Well now somtimes when i reboot it won't connect me to the internet and other times it will. Like right now its working fine. But when it isn't working, i open up a terminal and its changed my machine name to localhost, maybe thats why but i just want to try to get it back to the wayit was so i odn't have to worry about it. So what i did was totally delete everything in my /etc/sysconfig/network file becuase orginally i didn't think there was anything in it, i checked in it right now and all it said was NETWORKING = YES and in my hosts file it has:
[root@x1-6-00-50-8d-d1-c1-97 etc]# cat hosts
# generated by drakhosts
127.0.0.1 localhost

should this be fine? or did do i need to change somthing else, or was there somthing else i messed u you think? It all started in the noob forum under changing machine name.

I'm under KDE 3.4
