Question I Can't connect to my computer using samba; ALL I GET ARE ERROR MESSAGES

I cannot connect to my computer; I have successfully set up samba several times before, but whenever I try to connect it gives this error message; "Unable to mount location" followed by "Failed to retrieve share list from server" can anyone help?
Is there any way to completely remove samba and related files so you can start from scratch? If this action is possible then I can set up samba again; the right way.

thanks, I figured out that I left fire starter running in the background for nearly a month and never needed to use samba. I stopped it and it works fine (that was all I knew about the problem)
