Hub/Switch + Linux Server = ?

For hardware, I have my client machine, a simple slackware LAMP server, and a 5 port hub. I'm trying to use the slackware server as a testing server for websites that I create, but the problem is, I don't know how to connect to it from my client machine (a windows box) for things like file transfer and requesting pages from the server. Is it possible with this setup to access anything? If so, how?
Sorry if this question is very obscure, I'll try to clarify if you ask questions.

PS. I also have a switch that I can use instead of a hub.

I'm assuming you have the approprate cables to connect everything together...

Do you have an IP addresses assigned to the interfaces?

hub vs switch shouldnt matter, but the switch is recommended for better bandwidth in most-if-not-all circumstances.

Um, I don't believe I do have IP addresses assigned, how would I go about doing that?

I'm not familiar with slackware, so here's a guide that might help you with assigning IP addresses for that distro:
