Can anyone out there guide me through the installation of drivers for this device on UBUNTU. I have a CD with the driver on, I can also download from the Web , but I just cannot fathom how to install !!!!!
I had used that modem for over 3 years. Do not use the CD.
Simply use the ethernet port on that for your DSL/ADSL connection. There is no need to plug-in the USB cable. The USB part is slow and anyway, I never tried that.
After you get your 'link'
#sudo pppoeconf
If you want to configure it as a router, then read the instructions in the CD/manual. (Drivers are not required)
I have the same modem and I am using fedora core 9.Unfortunately I have no way out but to use the usb cable to use that modem as the other ethernet port is damaged. Can anybody help me out to set up this modem is USB mode in fedora 9?
When I plug the device in with USB cable and do an "ifconfig", the device is detected as a network device. I use PPPoE and so I tried creating a new xDSL connection from fedora's network manager. There i entered the username and password that my ISP gave me. But I was unable to connect to the net. The device works fine in USB mode in windows..
_wildfire_ please start a new thread. The usb part requires a driver module, but anyway is too slow compared with the ethernet part. Add a PCI LAN card (avoid some realtek ones)
