HTC Cell and Fedora

I use a tethered HTC 2125 with FC6 as a gprs modem. Works perfectly. I have noticed no other linux distros will work with it as a modem. They list it as a pocketpc.
What in FC6 is configured differently? Kerenel source, module ?

What client are you using to make the connection, do tell.

In FC6 or 7 I use the networking config under System/Preferences. Wvdial also sees it as /dev/ttyUSB0.
The only difference I noticed is FC had the usb_gadget set as a module in the kernel config. I do not know if that would be the key.
