Question HTB and weights

Hi

I have a router connected to the web through a dial-up connection of around 56K. The router has 3 subnets connected to it.

I need to do some shaping of the traffic outgoing from the router.
One of the requirements is to use weights for the classes I define (4 classes: CS1-CS4 and the weights 11,22,33,44 accordingly). There are no specific demands regarding what rate I should limit each class.

From what I can see, only CBQ uses weights in its classes. However, it seems it is complex to config and not very accurate.
Is there a way I can use HTB in a way that will simulate weights? Especially if I do not need to limit the bandwidth for each class? (But still shape it down to 56K)

Thank you
Karin

What are you using to configure? Have you tried a front-end such as http://sourceforge.net/projects/htbinit/
Quote:
HTB.init is a shell script derived from CBQ.init that allows for easy setup of HTB-based traffic control on Linux. HTB (Hierachical Token Bucket) is a new queueing discipline which attempts to address the weaknesses of current CBQ implementation.

Hi
Thanks for the answers.
I decided on using HTB and modified the rates to match the weights I needed.
I have not done extended testing but hopefully it will be good enough
