HowTo create a *.torrent and seed it? (KTorrent or Azureus)

OK I have read the HowTo here and I have also watched the tutorial video here but I cannot get my torrents to Upload to anyone (or Download from my home computer to another). I am not sure if it is a port issue, or a UDP-something, or....?

I am using KTorrent and I want to make a .torrent of photos and then email the .torrent to a friend and have them download those photos via BitTorrent. Unfortunately, in my download test, I have "0(1)" Peers (zero connected, one in swarm - the host) but my client won't connect to it; I have "0(0)" in my Seeds column (meaning my home host machine isn't seeding my torrent). I've tried this using Azureus at home also, but the same result - no seeding so the clients cannot connect to it.

My guess is that it wants a central Tracker or Repository or something, but I don't want to do that...

Any good way to go about this without giving in to the man? uTorrent on Windows allows it (watch the video link above...)

Have you got a tracker? That is necessary for any download via bittorrent. Here is an example of how to have a tracker on a desktop machine: http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/58.html
here is a page where you have several other link to how to create your own tracker : http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/57.html (You were just 2 clicks away...)

KTorrent now allows it

I asked the folk in charge of KTorrent and they said it wasn't available but liked the idea; now in KTorrent one can make a *.torrent file and seed it without a tracker.

I just wanted to throw this in here in case someone visited the post hoping for an answer! Yes it is now possible.

>Yes it is now possible.
