how to use windows printer from linux machine??

hi all,

i have a printer connected with a windows xp machine. that machine is a member of a group say"mygroup". i want to use that printer from my linux machine. How can i use that??

my linux versionis redhat 9.0.

One thing more when i want to connect that machine, using samba, it asks me for the password. I don't know which password should i give. and how to give the user name for that machine? do i have to include the domain name also alongwith the username, for eg:

username : mygroup.myxpmachine

i am not clear about this..

any help would be appreciated...
thanks in advance,
with regards,

if you're running cups then just go to http://localhost:631 and add the printer.

What don't you understand? You point your browser to that page and you should see an "Add printer" option. Just go through each page putting in the appropriate info. It should be self-explanatory. One page will ask you how the printer is connected and for that, you should choose "Windows printer via SAMBA".

i am very sorry about my foolish questions. But i am truly saying that i tried to configure. But i am facing the following problems.
My printer is HP laserjet - 1000 series. and the driver for this is not present in cups's driver's list.

what entries should be present in my smb.conf file.
becoz after installing another hp driver from cups list, when i am trying to print a test page, it shows my machine name in url.

i'll be very much thankful to u if i could configure the printer.

with regards,
and thnx for your patience..
