How to upgrade to Samba 3 on RH9?

This is maddening! Does anyone know the proper way to upgrade to Samba version 3 on a Red Hat 9 box? I've googled this to death and cannot find any docs on redhat.com for this...

Thx!! Dave

You might go here:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binar...RPMS/i386/9.0/

Get the rpm and then do an

rpm -Uvh sambafile.rpm

Or something like that.

Configuring Samba on RH9?

OK, that seemed to work fine, thanks!

Now to my next perplexing question. What is the preferred method to configure Samba in RH9? I read the article on using SWAT(localhost:901) but I have setup numerous RH boxes (servers and desktops) and none of them will let me access the localhost. When I open Mozilla and type in 127.1.1.1 or localhost, I always get an error saying "The connection was refused when attemptiong to conttact localhost". I have no firewall installed or enabled and I have setup the http server. Any ideas on what is causing this error?

Thanks!!

OK, looking at my red hat 8 bible, look at /etc/xinetd.d/swat (maybe swat.something) and change or comment out the 'only_from = 127.0.0.1' line and retart the xinetd service.

Also, instead of localhost, also try the http://theipaddress:901 (It's not 127.1.1.1)

That's all I got for ya...

Good luck.
