Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

other mandriva boxes which do the processing.
i have samba set up on all of the mandriva boxes. on the mandriva
admin box, i log into all the others and copy files to the
processing boxes from the xp box.
it's a gigabit network but my transfers seem very slow. how
would i begin to troubleshoot the speed issue?
one bit of info, there is also a macpro in the network. when i
manually grab files using the macpro, the speeds seem much better.
the transfers are handled by a bash script when initiated from
the mandriva admin box.

the processing boxes are all p4's
all have matching trendnet gigabit ethernet cards.
thanks for any tips on how to get started sorting out the
