You should SSH instead of telnet, it's safer. Check the man pages for ssh and sshd. To set up the server just type sshd as root and for the windows client use PuTTY.

Dear all,

Some of my personal experience here:

Linux box (TELnet Server)

1st.. u need to know whether your linux box had sshd installed by typing the code [whereis sshd] in your shell prompt, if u get the reply message similar look like [sshd: /usr/sbin/sshd /usr/share/man/man8/sshd.8.gz].. that's mean you have it installed.
2nd.. Please check on your "Service Configurition" make sure your "sshd" service are running well.
3rd.. In your shell(terminal) prompt.. key in the word "sshd"

Windows base (TELnet Client)

1st..Go to the following URL to download the free TELnet tool:
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~s.../download.html
2nd..Key in your Linux box IPaddress at the session category & click "open"
3rd..You should see the login ID: in your telnet screen, enter your login name follow by the password that have it in Linux box.

Or... using windowXP own TELnet tool..
1st.. key in "cmd" in your run box.
2nd..key in "open" follow by the Linux box IPaddress

Thanks for joining me on this section.. Best Regards to you all..
