how to sync CIFS ?

(on Cent0S5)

Hi,

I have a remote network file server mounted to a directory. The file server has had a new directory added. For what ever reason the new directory is not being listed. How can I resync the network device with my local machine?

I tried service netfs restart but got this:
Code:
# service netfs restart
Unmounting CIFS filesystems: unmount error 16 = Device or resource busy
Refer to the umount.cifs(8) manual page (man 8 umount.cifs)
                                                           [FAILED]
Mounting CIFS filesystems: [ OK ]
Mounting other filesystems: [ OK ]
Also how can I avoid this happening in the future? The interesting line out of my /etc/fstab:
Code:
//builder/releases      /releases               cifs    domain=mydomain,credentials=/etc/fstab.pw.builder
Thanks in advance,

Steve

The new directory is listed if you manually reload the container dir contents or re-access it?
Try mount -o remount instead of service restart
and also umounting first and then
Code:
mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt --verbose -o ....
to see what happens
