how to start iptables?
Hi all,
i am new to Linux, but installed a Slackware 14 and wanna build a firewall. For now i wanna test it, but dunno how i can start iptables and NAT . I looked at etc/rc.d/ and didnt find rc.firewall or rc.iptables. I did slackpkg update and saw it installed iptables 1.4.14. When type iptables -L it returns me "Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination" and so on. So do iptables are running, and where can find that firewall file? and also , how to enable NAT ? Thank you in advance. |
system-configure-firewall will provide a gui for it, but the base rules themselves are kept in /etc/sysconfig/iptables.

thank you , will try it tommorow. Is there some iptables app on xwindow ?

How to start iptables?
Hello Guys i think that in order to quit and begin the firewall program, but some distros have set up a service called iptables to quit and begin the firewall program and a settings file to set up it. Anyway it's possible to make a support to manage ipotables enhancing or setting up a program for this opportunity. Thanks a lot!!

actually there is no /etc/sysconfig/ directory at all. So where are the conf files for firewall and nat ? Where iptables stores it's configurations on slackware 14 ?
I wanna know where those configurations are stored because want to build up firewall on a virtual machine with virtual networks, and after than to just replace configuration files in my production network :). |
