How to setup samba share with encrypted password.
My setup:
Ubuntu Server 12.04 with 4 disks shared with samba.
The clients
3 computers running Windows 7 and with a .bat file in Startup.
The problem
My batch file contains username and password to the server in clear text.
What i want
I want to be able to connect to the shared drives at startup (since one of the Windows clients runs as a HTPC and i dont want to be prompted for password when starting it) without the password beeing visible anywhere on the clients.
Is this possible. Can anyone point me to some good quality reading?
