How to Setup FTP?

Can i know how to setup user-based FTP account? Now i am planning to setup an FTP site with mp3 inside and let my friend to download but i dont want share my files anybody else.

Does anyone has article or websites that teaching step by step setup FTP? Can i have the website?

So what should i do now? Anyone knows please help.....
