how to set IP using pump?

In slackware I know I can set my box to a specific IP (instead of requesting one via DHCP) by adding the IP to /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1

What is the corresponding way for a Debian box (which uses pump) to decide its own IP?

Pump man page: http://www.rt.com/man/pump.8.html

Your usage will be sometihng like `pump -i eth0` This will run a DHCP request off of the eth0 interface on the machine it is run on and set the Ip and other values. If that is what you mean by "decide its own IP".

If instead you mean "How do i set a static Ip in Debain?" look here: http://www.stedwards.edu/science/cas...ip-config.html

Good luck
