how to make ip visible to the world
I am running Fedora Core 5,
and I want someone overseas to `see' my linux box here at
home and install some software. My internet service provider
is Earthlink, and I live in the USA. Well, sshd is running
and I added my friend in Dublin as a user, and I could ping
my box from another computer attached to my router at home.
I ran ifconfig on my box and emailed the inet addr. to
my friend in Dublin, but he couldn't
ping it. So I don't know what to do. Should I have given
him the Bcast address? And what is the inet6 addr ?
I am pretty naive
when it comes to networking issues. Does anyone have any advice? I need to know how to make my ip address visible to
the outside world, if only for a short time.
Sincerely,
Greg
