Hi friends:

I`ve installed Red Hat 9 on my computer, but it didn`t recognize my network card which it's a "INTEL PRO 1000/MT NETWORK CONNECTION"

I downloaded the linux driver from the intel website, but when i try to compile it, appears a problem with the kernel version... it says that kernel version must be older than 2.4.xxx...

Can anyone tell me how can i do to upgrade the kernel? or the steps i must follow because I`m newbie in linux and i really don`t know what to do...

i feel really lost... can someone help me out please?

Have a read of http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Compiling_a_kernel. Compiling a new kernel a worthwhile thing to do - and it's at the heart of what linux is all about, IMHO
