how to install iproute

i need iproute to install shorewall, so i DL iproute-2.2.4-2.src.rpm and tryed to install it...

README: KERNEL_INCLUDE should pointto correctlinux kernel... - which is ok (think so )

ADDLIB should contain inet_* functions...

i didnt know what the second point was so i just try: make

/usr/src/linux/include/linux/in.h:140: field 'gr_group' has incomplete type
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/in.h:141: confused by earlier errors, bailing out
make[1]: *** [ll_map.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/rpm/SOURCES/iproute2/lib'
make: *** [all] Error 2

my distro is slack 9.1

anyone know what the problem is?

do /sbin/ip -V. You probably already have it installed. Most modern distros do.

I had encounter the same problem here, can anyone kindly show your helpful hand please?
My distro is slack9.1 with 2.4.22 kernel.
I had this get installed: glibc-2.3.2-i486-1, gcc-3.2.3-i486-2

This is the version of iproute2 tarball I had tried:
iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss020116-try.tar.gz
iproute2-2.2.4-now-ss991023.tar.gz
iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz

KERNEL_INCLUDE in Makefile had point to correct linux kernel include directory with default (/usr/src/linux/include)

The same problem keep occur with all the above version I had tried out when the time compiling (when make)……

Anything I had missed out? Please advise…..
