How to get network card detected?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi all,

I installed slackware10, compiled kernel 2.6.7 with 3com network card support.

However when I go to Info Center>Network Interfaces I see only loopback no eth0 or somehting like that?

How do I get my network card detected?

have you tried netconfig, or ifconfig eth0 up? what does /sbin/lspci -v return? how about lsmod? are you using dhcp, or static addresses?
good luck.
