How to Get Little Icons on Mozilla Tabs?

I'm creating web pages to be run under Apache. I've noticed that many web sites get little icons on the Mozilla Tab (LinuxQuestions.org has a little penguin on the tab).

How the heck do you code for that in HTML?

Just add this to your <head> section:
<link REL="shortcut icon" HREF="/favicon.ico" TYPE="image/x-icon">

Then create your icon called "favicon.ico" and save it in the root of your site.

Any restrictions on the icon file format? Can it be a gif or jpg, or does it have to be an icon?
