Question How to gain access internal LAN Using OpenVPN?

Hi,

I've just installed OpenVPN on my CentOS4 box and I have connectivity in a client server type setup. In the current setup, the client box can only have access to the VPN server and not the rest of the internal LAN. What I like, is to be able to have access to the rest of the resources on the internal LAN. The OpenVPN To-Do guide is exceptional. I have been able to configure it without too much fuss. I just don't know what to do next to get access to the rest of the internal network. I would like to add that I have a D-Link router in front of my Linux OpenVPN server. I have port 1194 NAT'd from the router to the VPN server. What do I need to do to expose the rest of my internal network of Windows and Linux boxes to the VPN client.

Thanks.

Hi,

I havn't used openVPN so I won't be able to tell you what option you missed, but I think you could check a few things :
Does your client has a route to the internal network ?
Does your VPN box has IP forwarding enabled ?
Does the firewall on your VPN box accepts traffic from the VPN tunnel to the internal LAN ?

if all this is ok, then it must be an issue with openVPN server config since giving access to the LAN is a VPN option, not necessarily a default setup.

Good luck !
