how to find and change mac address in fedora 14


so if anyone knows how to find and change mac address plz let me know

From man ifconfig:
Code:
hw class address
       Set  the  hardware  address of this interface, if the device driver supports
       this operation.  The keyword must be followed by the name  of  the  hardware
       class  and the printable ASCII equivalent of the hardware address.  Hardware
       classes currently supported include ether  (Ethernet),  ax25  (AMPR  AX.25),
       ARCnet and netrom (AMPR NET/ROM).

I'd like to know why you'd want to do that.
Every network equipment has a different MAC on purpose, so that network switches can do their job properly.
You may want to change MAC address because you changed the network board
In that case, edit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and remove reference to your old board, then reboot
