how to do load balancing?


i have 2 isp services, ADSL cables. then, how do i maximize the usage of both cables. i wish to have something like, if i have one cable failed-down, then, other one will take turn on service. if both lines are ok, then, they will sharing the incoming and outgoing traffic from my LAN to the internet.
so, what is the thing that i should look into? which area????

This question just keeps on coming up! I am in the same postition. I found several links that might help you a little

The first link is for a load balancing proxy server that has round robin balancing and some failsafe stuff. The second one is a document on how to do it in BIND. Im actually kinda lazy and I just use Astaro linux for my router it does the balancing for me

for simple load balancing use iproute2.

and for using only one gateway in case of failure of other link , u need to write your own scripts.

post output of.

ifconfig -a
route -n

may be we can help u with load balancing and the scipt..
