How to delete a network interface?

Hi, often when my PC boots up, it will hang for several moments while attempting to activate eth2. However I don't have an eth2 interface (or eth1 for that matter) I only have eth0. How do I get rid of the erronerous entry for these nework cards?

You are member of LQ FORUMS from 2002, you have 248 posts and you expect to get a valid answer for this, without at least letting us know what distro you are using?

Methinks that was an unfair reply.
You can successfully use Linux and ignore network settings for a long time; well until they cause problems.
So whatever distro ure on: look in Network settings.
Not knowing your system I'll have to say use the network wizard thingys.

Remove ethx thru ethy you don't want.

But yes. After a second thought. Knowing ure distro would help if you want command line help.
