How to Connect to ADSL Modem via Router

I have a Sweex router connected to a Speedtouch Home ADSL Modem. The Router has IP addresses 192.168.2.1 and 10.0.0.1. The ADSL Modem has the IP address 10.0.0.138 on the "inward facing" side.

I don't have problems with Internet access but I cannot connect to the Modem via the router using either http or telnet. I have to plug a network cable directly to the modem, disrupting my network.

I've tried setting up a route manually but to no avail.

Is there a way of connecting to the modem through the router?

what subnet maskes are on?

I have same setup and they have the following

modem internal
192.168.1.254
255.255.255.0

Router get
192.168.1.4
255.255.255.0

Then its dhcp is
192.168.10.1 - 50
255.255.255.0

My network has 255.255.255.0
The modem and the router port connected to it have 255.0.0.0
